Have your students practice adding, subtracting, and multiplying decimals with this printable and digital real-world Christmas math activity.  Students calculate the cost of a family's Christmas tree and decorations.

Using decimal multiplication, students will first find the cost of all the decorations for the tree using a product page containing pictures and prices. They will also calculate discounts after being given a list of coupons. Finally, they’ll finish the activity by finding the total cost of the decorations, after the discounts, with sales tax.

The digital versions of all activities are in Google Forms for use with Google Classroom.

This is a perfect way to review decimals before Winter Break!

Standards:  5.NBT.7, 6.NS.3

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ This was a great resource!  It was just before our Christmas Break when my principal walked in for an unannounced observation.  This was what my class was working on and she was impressed.  She loved how it pulled so many of our lessons together and got the kids working.  Being able to use our math skills in real-world applications is fantastic and truly helps our students understand!  Thank you!  - Kimberly P

They were so engaged, and loved the challenge of calculating discounts and tax. It's as if they finally made that connection about why it's important to know how to multiply decimals and have an awareness of it in real life!  - Flying Into Fifth Grade
